Joao Rodrigues
JR

João Rodrigues fits into the new paradigms of modernity, passing through the generalisation of the aesthetic experience of everyday phenomena and the absorption of civilisation of which we highlight the hybrid resulting from the dilution of the organic and the mechanical digital. Modernity brings new approaches and materials.
Already Lavoisier, Chemist of the XVIII century, argued that “… in nature, nothing is lost, nothing is gained, everything changes …” What João does is artistic compositions, transforming banal materials from which unique pieces emerge…. Of the corporate world often “useless appendages” are grafted and recreate new bodies. The tone, the relief, the thickness, the lines and shapes of some of its (re) creations reveal a dissonant universe, whose synthesis or harmonization of the senses is referred to the intangible, conducted by bodies and perceptive observers of the dream, this artist does not look vaguely or unnecessarily …
In the work of João Rodrigues the inversion of a certain aesthetic model is evident: Making uselessness useful, in order for experience to be aesthetical felt through an innovative conceptual approach expressed in a brief and tender ecology of the senses.
